Refuse collection, road sweeping and cleansing of public roads

The Municipal Council provides a daily refuse collection service in the commercial areas including the town centre as well as the sub-centres and a twice weekly service in the residential areas.
The roads in the town centre are cleansed daily and twice weekly in the other areas.
Besides the regular refuse collection service, Council extends assistance in the following operations

Domestic Cleanups
The requester has to register on a waiting list and pay a sum of Rs 600/-. A lorry is put at his disposal on a pre-agreed day, time and period. He does the loading on his own.

General Cleanup
The requester has to register on a waiting list and pay a sum of Rs 600/-.. A trailer (marell) is deposited on his premises on a pre-agreed day, time and period. He does the loading on his own. The loaded trailer is collected by the municipal team.

Post Wedding Cleanup
The requester has to register with a proof that there is such a ceremony. A lorry is put at his disposal at a pre-agreed day, time and period. He does the loading on his own. This service is free of charge.

Community Cleanup
This type of cleanup is organized by civil organizations or as has regularly been the case by Councillors. The request is sent in advance for consideration by Council. If Council is agreeable, a lorry with driver and helper is put at the disposal together with some equipment as scrapper, rake, brooms and baskets are loaned. This service is free of charge.

Bulky Waste
There is a paid service for the removal of discarded furniture, mattresses and appliances such as refrigerators, cooking ranges, washing machines and others. The applicant has to register and pay the fee which is presently Rupees 600.

The service comes to collect the objects on a pre-arranged day and time. The loading is done by the requester. The objects are then disposed to the landfill at Mare Chicose.
