The public health department has the overall responsibility for the creation, promotion and maintenance of a salubrious environment in the township. This is achieved inter alia through an effective and efficient refuse collection service, cleansing of public places, drains canals and rivers, roadside weeding, maintenance of public conveniences and management of cemeteries, cremation grounds, markets and fairs.
The Department has to ensure compliance with the Health Regulations, Market & Fair Regulations as legislated by the Council from time to time as per Section of the Local Government Act.
The department  is divided into sections:

  1. Refuse collection and Town Cleansing
2. Market and fair;
3. Cemeteries and crematoria;
4. Traffic centre , Public Convenience;
5. Cleaning of rivers, open drains and canals;
6. Control of weeds and rodents
