Cleansing of water courses drains and
canals
The Council cleanses drains,
canals, streams, rivulets and water courses with a view to
allowing free flow of water. The river banks are cleaned and
appropriate action are taken to prevent pooling of water.
The aim behind such works is to prevent mosquito breeding
which is the main cause of malaria and chickungunya.
During cyclonic and rainy seasons municipal workers also intervene
to drain out flooded areas.
